The women’s group of St. James has chosen St. Thekla as its patroness.
Saint Thekla was a disciple and companion of the Apostle Paul in the 1st century. She is given the title “Equal-to-the-Apostles” because she accompanied St. Paul in founding churches and because her witness converted so many others to Christ. She was the first woman martyr for the Christian Faith.
